Tips

  • Cooking time. In the air fryer, thinner chicken tenderloins usually cook in 7-10 minutes, but this varies with thickness. For thicker cuts, don't extend cooking time; instead, check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer. Once it reaches 165°F, the chicken is done.
  • Breaded chicken tenders. You can also make breaded chicken tenders with panko or breadcrumbs (gf if needed). The cooking time remains the same; avoid adding extra spices, seasonings, or oil.
  • Leftover ideas. Leftover chicken tenders make a great addition for dinner salads, try kale salad, avocado salad, or kale caesar salad.
  • Cooking times vary by model. The duration for cooking chicken tenders in the air fryer depends on your specific model and desired level of crispiness. For instance, in my Cosori 5.8 quart air fryer, I cook them at 375°F,  typically from 8-12 minutes.
  • Make them in the oven. The oven method requires more time. Preheat the oven to 350°F and place the chicken tenders on a baking sheet. Bake for 25-30 minutes, ensuring the internal temperature reaches 165°F to ensure they're fully cooked.

Freezing And Storing Instructions

  • To Store. Place chicken in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
  • To Freeze. For freezing, arrange cooked air fryer chicken tenders in a single layer on a baking sheet. Once frozen solid, transfer them to an airtight, freezer-safe container. They can be stored for up to 3 months. When ready to eat, reheat directly from frozen.
  • To Reheat. To reheat chicken tenders in the Air Fryer, preheat to 350°F, then add tenders in a single layer and cook until warmed through. Alternatively, you can use the oven at 350°F; avoid the microwave to prevent sogginess. If reheating from frozen, add extra minutes until warmed through.

Serve the air fryer ribs. Serve up the ribs with your favorite bbq sauce on the top or on the side in a small bowl.

Tips

  • Check the size of your air fryer, if it isn’t big enough to fit all the ribs, don’t overcrowd it. Cook the ribs in two batches. This also depends on the size of your ribs so adjust accordingly.
  • Make sure the ribs are dry, use a paper towel to blot them if you have to. This allows for a crispier texture.
  • For a low carb or sugar-free meal choose a sugar-free BBQ sauce or eat the ribs without.
  • To add a touch of sweetness, mix brown sugar into the spice rub.
  • Slow Cooker - make these ribs in crock pot.

You can substitute spare ribs for the rack of ribs but you may need to adjust the cook time or monitor the ribs closely so they don’t overcook.

These easy air fryer potatoes are the new way to enjoy this delicious side dish. Say goodbye to convenient oven-baked potatoes that lack that signature crisp, and hello to a healthier and more appetizing alternative that's easy to prepare and is ready in minutes. With just a little oil you get a perfect crunchy exterior with fluffy potato inside.

Making heart-shaped potatoes is totally optional but does add bonus points for presentation. Serve them at your next Date night or Valentine's day.

[feast_advanced_jump_to]

Ingredients

  • Best Potatoes - Idaho or Russet potatoes (higher in starch and crisp up nicely) or Yukon Gold potatoes (medium starch, creamy, all-purpose potatoes). Or Fingerling potatoes will work too. You don’t need to peel the potato skin, this adds a nice extra crunch. These are slices and not potato chips, so don't cut them too thin. Waxy potatoes like red potatoes will work too but you'll have to air fryer them for longer.
  • Seasonings and spices - I think potatoes are delicious with quite a minimal seasoning but feel free to elevate the flavor with cajun, seasoned salts, and fresh or dried herbs.
  • Olive oil - even though you can make food in an air fryer with absolutely no oil, I still recommend using some. The oil helps the spices stick to the potatoes and crisps them while cooking. I like extra virgin olive oil mixed with seasoning for coating the potatoes. You could also use avocado oil, canola oil, vegetable oil, or even unscented coconut oil. Add more if needed.

The full recipe and ingredients can be found in the recipe card below this post.

Instructions

Cut the potatoes lengthwise about ¼ inches thick slices. Not very thin.

With a heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out potato hearts. I used 2-inch cookie heart.

Place potatoes in a large bowl and toss in seasonings. Add olive oil and combine.

Spray the air fryer tray lightly with oil before adding the seasoned potato slices.

Preheat the air fryer to 375 degrees Fahrenheit according to manufacturer instructions. Mine was about 5 minutes: Cosori 5.8 quart.

You could also use something like a Ninja Foodi with built-in air fryer function)

Place the potatoes in the basket in a single layer. Don't overcrowd the basket and cook in multiple batches.

Air fry potatoes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-11 minutes, turning the potatoes halfway through. Once the potato slices develop golden brown edges - they are done.

Serve as an appetizer with dipping sauces, as a side dish or for breakfast instead of hash browns.

📋 JULIA'S TIP To ensure you get crispy potatoes, you can take an extra step and soak the raw cut potatoes in cold water before patting them dry with a paper towel to season and air fry. BUT this is not essential with air fryer.

heart shaped potatoes in a plate with ketchup

Tips

  • You can use as little as 1 tablespoon of oil. I find the fries slightly crispier and flavorful when using more oil but you can get away with less if using air fryer.
  • Fried food generally don't reheat well. But with air fryer you can reheat them once or twice more once they go cold. Reheat in a preheated air fryer at 375 degrees F for 3-5 minutes.
  • Don't overcrowd the air fryer basket. Keep those slices separate to ensure even cooking and crispy exterior.
  • I didn't soak the potatoes but it may help to draw out the excess starch for more crisp results. However, I find that it is not that essential, especially when using an air fryer. Soak the fries in cold water for at least 20-25 minutes to 1 hour.
  • Shake basket halfway through to help potatoes crisp up nicely.
  • It’s good to season potatoes with salt before frying them, but you should also season them (preferably sea salt flakes) after frying, as this will help the potatoes to soak up even more flavor.
  • If you do multiple batches, keep the cooked potatoes warm in the oven while you work with the remaining batches.

📋 JULIA'S TIP While traditional fried food doesn’t reheat well, you can salvage leftover fried food by reheating it in an air fryer the same day once the food has become cold.

heart shaped potatoes in a plate

Serving Suggestions

Air fryer potato slices are the perfect side dish to your favorite main dish or as a choice of finger foods at parties and family gatherings.

Once they are getting cold you can quickly pop them back into air fryer and reheat once or twice. The only downside to serving these for a crowd is cooking them in smaller batches unless you using something like a french door or large family air fryers.

Dipping Sauce Ideas

  • Ketchup
  • Mayonnaise
  • Avocado Crema
  • Ranch Dressing
  • Cold Spinach Dip
  • Pimento Cheese
  • Aioli - which is my favorite dipping sauce for everything! Try the spicy aioli that I used for this Brussels Sprouts recipe.
  • A simple sour cream with packet ranch seasoning or whipped together with a couple of fave seasonings

Potato dishes go with almost anything. We love to serve this side dish with our favorite main courses.

Make Ahead and Storing Instructions

Overall, leftover ‘’fried’’ foods don’t last in the fridge for too long. Nor do they taste great after reheating.

Make as much as you'd consume.

📋 JULIA'S TIP If you have leftover uncooked potato slices (with no seasoning or oil), submerge them in cold water and keep them refrigerated for up to 12-24 hours. This is also a great way to make ahead a bunch.

  • To Store. Store leftover potatoes in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.
  • To Reheat. I recommend using the same preheated air fryer and reheating potatoes just once or twice for about 3-4 minutes at 375 degrees F, the same temperature used for cooking. I don't recommend microwaving as the slices will lose their crisp exterior and become soggy.
  • To Make Ahead. I don't recommend cutting the potatoes too long in advance. But you can definitely slice them in the morning and keep them submerged in cold water until evening.

These Air Fryer Stuffed Peppers offer a delicious twist on the traditional recipe. The peppers are perfectly cooked and filled with a savory mixture of gound turkey, cheese and rice, making it a mouth-watering dish to enjoy. Thanks to the air fryer, this dish is quick and easy to make without spending hours in the kitchen!

a bunch of cheesy turkey stuffed peppers.

The recipe takes about 30 minutes to prepare, and the combination of tender turkey, fluffy rice, and air-fried peppers results in a gourmet dish that's both satisfying and crunchy.

[feast_advanced_jump_to]

Ingredients

  • Ground turkey -  a lean and protein-packed alternative to traditional beef, but feel free to swap it out for ground chicken, shredded chicken, or of course, ground beef! You can also use cooked turkey slices.
  • Sweet long peppers - these mild and slender peppers bring a touch of sweetness to air fryer stuffed peppers. Try to choose peppers of similar size for even cooking and presentation.
  • Rice - adds a fluffy texture and acts as a hearty base for the filling. You could also opt for brown rice, quinoa, or cauliflower rice.
  • Oil - infuses a rich, savory flavor to the sautéed onions and garlic. Olive, avocado, or vegetable oil all work. Or add a touch more flavor by sauteeting with butter.
  • Yellow onion - adds sweetness and depth to the filling.
  • Garlic - intensifies the savory notes in the dish.
  • Salt and pepper - seasonings that enhance the overall taste of the dish.
  • Petite diced tomatoes - you can use a regular can of diced tomatoes or swap for a fire-roasted version for added depth of flavor.
  • Fresh cilantro - elevates the flavor profile with its citrusy and herbaceous notes.
  • Mexican-style cheese - melts to perfection, creating a gooey and flavorful topping.

📋 FLAVOR & TEXTURE: This recipe for the best turkey stuffed peppers offers a savory and flavorful taste from the seasoned turkey and fluffy rice filling. The peppers' subtle sweetness perfectly complements the dish, while the gooey melted cheese adds a creamy texture that melts in your mouth. Using an air fryer gives the dish a satisfying crispiness that adds another layer of texture to this delicious and comforting meal.

Tips

  • Opt for quinoa instead of rice. You can make a quinoa stuffed pepper instead by simply swapping the cooked rice for cooked quinoa. Follow the package instructions for cooking quinoa. If you love quinoa, try this stuffed butternut squash next.
  • Low-carb option. Swap the white rice for cauliflower rice! You can make your own cauliflower rice by finely chopping cauliflower florets, or use prepared packaged cauliflower rice. Just saute it with the ground turkey and veggie mixture before filling your peppers.
  • Cheese variety. Experiment with different cheese blends, such as cheddar or pepper jack, for a unique flavor profile.
  • Colorful peppers. Use a variety of colored peppers for a visually stunning dish that's as appealing as it is delicious. Bell peppers work too but these will need longer cooking time.
  • Make-Ahead. Prepare the filling in advance and refrigerate until ready to use. This makes assembly a breeze for a quick and satisfying meal.
  • Use ground beef. The flavors of this version for stuffed peppers work just as well with ground beef if you prefer.
  • Related: Leftover turkey Shepherd's pie, turkey wraps.

What To Serve With Air Fryer Stuffed Peppers

Serve these ground turkey stuffed peppers on a bed of greens or with a veggie side for a light side dish option. Add a dollop of sour cream or a drizzle of hot sauce to customize the flavors to your liking.

For a wholesome meal prepare a couple of healthy sides like lemon garlic green beans and asparagus with peas.

Freezing And Storing Instructions

Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts is one of the best ways to enjoy a side of low-carb vegetables. The crispy seasoned exteriors of each brussel sprout are totally addictive - not firm but not over soft on the inside! Serve these tasty veggies with my homemade and healthy chipotle aioli.

If that wasn’t enough, I’ve also combined these crispy air fryer Brussels sprouts with salty crispy bacon and freshly grated Parmesan just like in my Air Fryer Fingerling Potatoes.

Ingredients

  • Brussels sprouts - you’ll need 1 pound of Brussels sprouts, washed and trimmed. If you have larger-sized sprouts, simply cut them in half.
  • Oil - I’ve used olive oil to coat the Brussels sprouts with seasoning as I enjoy the taste but you could also use vegetable oil or even an unscented coconut oil instead if you wish.
  • Bacon - cooked to crispy pieces. While this is completely optional, it’s a great addition to the dish, especially if you plan on serving this during a holiday or special event.
  • Parmesan - grate the Parmesan from a block, don’t use pre-shredded Parmesan for this recipe. Keep extra on the side for garnish.
  • Onion powder - this provides a depth of flavor that’ll make you come back for more! Keep it simple!
  • Garlic - make sure to use 1 fresh clove of garlic, minced. This will provide a much deeper flavor than using garlic powder. Garlic should be added in the end along with the parmesan cheese to prevent over frying.

The full recipe and ingredients can be found in the recipe card below this post.

How To Make Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts

In a large bowl add Brussels sprouts and season with salt, pepper, and onion powder along with 1 tablespoon of oil.

Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit according to manufacturer instructions (mine is for 5 minutes).

Lightly spray the air fryer basket with vegetable oil and add the vegetables in a single layer.

Don't overcrowd the basket, you may need to do this in batches.

Air fry for 5 minutes, shake and stir gently. Add parmesan and fry for another 5-6 minutes until charred and crisp.

If using fresh garlic add it here now.

Tips

  • The Brussels sprouts should be crisp by the end of cooking. It shouldn’t be firm but shouldn’t be overly soft either. You can also tell that the sprouts have cooked sufficiently by their lovely enhanced flavor.
  • For softer sprouts, soak them in a bowl of water for about 30 minutes before air frying. It’s also best to allow the soaked Brussels sprouts to dry as much as possible before air frying.
  • You can air fry these for a couple of minutes longer if necessary but then be sure to shake the basket in between a few times to promote even cooking and prevent any burning.
  • Space the sprouts out in the air fryer basket so that they are not overcrowded. This will ensure an even cook on all sides.
  • You can easily double or triple this recipe if serving to a larger crowd. You will likely then need to fry in batches.
  • I’ve found that larger Brussels sprouts work better for this recipe than the smaller variety. The cooking time may vary, keep an eye on these sprouts!

📋 JULIA'S TIP For an extra hearty meal, we like to serve these tasty sprouts with lazy Cabbage Roll Casserole, Salmon Casserole or my unstuffed Ukrainian Cabbage Rolls recipe.

Brussel Sprouts In Oven Instructions

You can make these Brussels sprouts in a regular oven too.

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

Toss the vegetables in 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil, season with spices, and arrange in a single layer on a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake for 15-20 minutes or until they start becoming golden brown.

Or you can use a broiling function for the last 5-10 minutes to make the outer layer even crispier and darker.

Don't leave them unattended as they will burn rather quickly!

However, I love cooking in the air fryer because you can get away with less oil and the texture can't compare to a regular oven.

Use just a tablespoon or even less, keep an eye on these sprouts and cook until they've become golden brown.

wooden spoon in cooked brussel sprouts basket

How To Serve Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts

Crispy Brussels sprouts are also good on their own with maple syrup, balsamic glaze, or with a drizzle of good-quality olive oil.

Freezing And Storing Instructions

  • Store the Brussels sprouts in an airtight container for 2-3 days in the fridge.
  • You can refrigerate and freeze this but like most of baked or fried foods, the texture will be off and unappealing. Your crispy sprouts are highly likely will become soggy.
  • To make your prep easier, make Brussel sprouts ahead by cutting them in advance, and adding seasoning. Keep refrigerated for 1-2 days and when ready to air fry, drizzle olive oil, toss and cook!

While we enjoy easy recipes like Chicken Cacciatore and Creamy Mushroom Thighs, the air fryer is a lifesaver on time-pressed nights.

[feast_advanced_jump_to]

Ingredients

  • Chicken thighs - for optimal juiciness, and crispy skin, opt for skin-on, bone-in chicken thighs or drumsticks, avoiding boneless, skinless chicken in this recipe.
  • Cornstarch - thickens the batter, enhances color, and absorbs moisture for ultra-crispy, golden-brown chicken skin.
  • Egg - acts as a binder for the cornstarch, aiding seasoning adherence to the chicken.
  • Dry rub/seasonings - a simple blend of garlic powder, paprika, celery salt, black pepper, turmeric, and a touch of cayenne spice.

Turmeric - my secret ingredient! Turmeric adds a warm color and subtle flavor. If you don't have turmeric, you can omit it, or use a pinch of saffron for color.

How to Make Air Fryer Fried Chicken

Season the chicken thighs. Sprinkle ½ teaspoon of celery salt evenly over the chicken thighs.

Set them aside.

egg wash and cornstarch bowls.

Prepare the coating bowls. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch, leftover 1 teaspoon of celery salt, and all spices (or use your own spice mix).

In another bowl, whisk the egg until smooth.

If you prefer boneless chicken thighs, remember to reduce the cooking time accordingly.

Coat the chicken thighs. One by one, dredge the chicken thigh and roll it in the seasoning mixture, ensuring it's evenly coated.

Then using kitchen tongs, dip it into the beaten egg, making sure it's fully covered.

Finally, roll it again in the seasoning mixture, pressing the mixture gently onto the chicken.

Shake off any excess coating.

Repeat this process with the remaining chicken thighs.

Preheat the air fryer. Preheat your air fryer to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius).

Things will get ''messy'' in the end, and to make it easier, divide the cornstarch mixture into two bowls.

Place the coated chicken thighs into the air fryer basket, skin side up first.

Lightly spray them with cooking oil.

Air fry the chicken thighs. Cook the chicken in the air fryer for 22-25 minutes, flipping each thigh halfway through the cooking time.

By the time chicken is cooked there may be a few spots with cornstarch, you can gently brush them or lightly spray them with cooking oil.

Recipe Troubleshoot

Why isn't the chicken skin crispy?

  • For extra crispy chicken thigh skin, pat it dry before seasoning. For added assurance, leave it uncovered in the refrigerator to let the skin dry out a bit.
  • Check your air fryer settings and ensure it's working at the right temperature; higher temperatures are generally better for achieving crispy skin.
  • Don't overcrowd the basket.
  • Don’t forget to flip it halfway through.

Why does my coating fall off my chicken?

  • After first dredging, pop it on a wire rack for about 10 mins. The coating will cling so much better!
  • Shake off extra cornstarch mixture from the chicken. Too much prevents the egg mix from sticking, ruining that crispy ''breading''.
  • Just like with any coating ingredients take care to coat the meat evenly from all sides.
four crispy bone-in chicken thighs on a serving plate garnished with parsley.

Tips

  • Preheat the air fryer. Preheat the air fryer for better and consistent results, especially recommended for this fried chicken recipe. Note: Avoid using air-fryer basket liners during reheating to prevent fire risk.
  • Whether using cooking spray or a basting brush, a light spritz of oil is sufficient; the chicken doesn't need to be fully covered.
  • After cooking, you may have some uncooked cornstarch ''spots'', simply spritz them with oil or brush them off with a basting brush.
crispy skin sliced chicken thighs on a plate.

Storing Leftovers

  • To Store. Refrigerate for up to 3-4 days.
  • To Reheat. In air fryer, at 350 degrees F and cook the chicken until piping hot and steaming, about 5 minutes.
  • To Freeze. Freeze fried thighs in an airtight, freezer-safe container for up to 3 months (better flavor if consumed sooner). Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.

Delicious Chicken Seasoning Ideas!

  • Lemon Air Fryer Chicken Thighs - add Lemon Pepper Seasoning or whole lemon zest to the spice mixture.
  • Taco Seasoning
  • Old Bay Seasoning
  • All Purpose Chicken Seasoning - this is something you'd easily find in the store.
  • Italian Air Fryer Chicken Thighs - add Herbs de Provence (Italian seasoning).
  • Smoky Chipotle Seasoning - for some serious bold and smoky flavors.
  • Ranch Seasoning
  • Garlic Parmesan Seasoning - combine grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, dried parsley, and a pinch of salt for a cheesy and savory coating.
  • Everything Bagel Seasoning
  • Cajun Seasoning

Check the chicken's doneness: To ensure the chicken is fully cooked, use a kitchen meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. It should reach a minimum temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit (74 degrees Celsius) for safe consumption.
  • Enjoy the flavorful fried chicken! Once the chicken thighs are crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside, they are ready to be served. Enjoy!

Notes

  • This recipe makes about 2-4 servings.
  • If you prefer boneless chicken thighs, remember to reduce the cooking time accordingly. But I highly recommend using bone-in skin-on chicken here. Check the blog post for more details.
  • Things will get ''messy'' in the end, and to make it easier, divide the cornstarch mixture into two bowls.
  • Flavor and texture - A satisfying texture that's crisp and golden on the outside, while tender and succulent on the inside. Similar to KFC but way better, so much better and healthier for you. Spices like paprika, celery salt, turmeric, garlic, and smoky cayenne complement the juicy chicken beautifully.
  • Why isn't the chicken skin crispy?
    • For an extra crispy chicken thigh skin, ensure it's dry before dredging. Pat the chicken dry before seasoning, and for added assurance, leave it uncovered in the refrigerator to let the skin dry out a bit.
    • Also, make sure the skin is tightly covering the meat and avoid moving it around excessively during cooking to prevent tearing.
    • Check your air fryer settings and ensure it's working at the right temperature; higher temperatures are generally better for achieving crispy skin.
    • Don't overcrowd the basket. Cooking too many chicken thighs in the air fryer at once can lead to overcrowding, preventing proper air circulation and even cooking. Ensure there is enough space between the chicken pieces for crispy results.
    • Don’t forget to flip it halfway through.
  • Why does my coating fall off my chicken?
    • Air dry the cornstarch seasoning on the chicken before air frying. After first dredging, pop it on a wire rack for about 10 mins. The coating will cling so much better!
    • Shake off the extra cornstarch mixture from the chicken. Too much prevents the egg mix from sticking, ruining that crispy ''breading''.

This easy garlic butter salmon in an air fryer consists of wild salmon fillets coated in garlic butter and simple seasonings, with the health benefits of being cooked in an air fryer with little oil.

This juicy salmon provides a healthy meal for the entire family that can be served with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice or lemon butter sauce and a side of green beans, white rice, or other side dishes to suit your personal preference.

I am on a mission to create more air fryer recipes in near future which you can find in my Air Fryer Recipe list.

Our family loves salmon recipes and air fryer recipes and some of our favorites include Air Fryer Zucchini Skins, Skillet Fried Salmon Patties and Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries.

[feast_advanced_jump_to]
salmon fillets with broccoli and lemon a plate

Ingredients

  • Salmon filets - I’ve used two filets (about 6 oz each) for this recipe, but you could easily increase this when serving to more people, it just means that you will need to air fry the fresh fish in batches so that you don’t overcrowd the basket. You can air fry these filets from fresh or frozen. If you don't enjoy salmon skin, use skinless salmon fillets.
  • Butter - Use salted or unsalted butter to melt. It's a good idea to omit the salt called for in the ingredients when using salted butter.
  • Garlic - Freshly minced garlic from fresh garlic cloves will provide the best garlic flavor, but you can use grocery store minced garlic instead or garlic powder.
  • Herbs - Use freshly chopped parsley or dill in the melted butter seasoning.
  • Seasoning salt and black pepper - To taste.
  • Red pepper chili flakes - This is optional and provides a lovely kick of spicy heat without being overpowering.

The full recipe and ingredients can be found in the recipe card below this post.

How To Make Salmon In Air Fryer

Preheat the air fryer to 390 F according to manufacturer instructions. (Mine was 400 F for 5 minutes) Cosori 5.8 quart.

Season the filets with salt and pepper. In a small bowl, mix together melted butter, parsley, and garlic.

With a small basting brush, generously coat the filets with the mixture.

Once the air fryer is preheated, transfer the salmon filets into the air fryer basket and cook for 10 minutes.

The salmon is ready when it’s easily flaking, and its internal temperature should reach 145 F.

Enjoy right away.

air fryer salmon fillets with lemon slice in air fryer

JULIA'S TIP You don’t need to flip the salmon filets while cooking. I place the filets with the salmon skin side down.

Tips

  • Space the salmon filets out in the air fryer basket, so they are not overcrowded. Proper circulation of hot air will ensure an even cook on all sides. You could also turn the filets over mid-cook, although it’s optional.
  • You can easily double or triple this recipe if serving a larger crowd. You will likely then need to fry the filets in batches.
  • I’ve used regular salmon filets in this recipe. If you opt for thicker or larger filets, adjust the cooking time.
  • You can use fresh or frozen salmon filets for this recipe. Thaw frozen filets overnight in the refrigerator first. Add 3-5 minutes to the cooking time when cooking salmon filets from frozen.
  • Honey can be added to the buttery lemon sauce to make air fryer honey garlic salmon.

JULIA'S TIP The salmon is cooked adequately when the flesh flakes easily using a fork. If you aren’t sure, use a food thermometer by inserting it into the thickest section of the salmon. The internal temperature should register 145F or more for the salmon to be done.

Freezing And Storing Instructions

Keep the leftover salmon in the fridge for up to 3 days. You can flake it and add to salads or reheat it in the oven or air fryer until piping hot all the way through.

For freezing it is best to freeze uncooked fillets.

Serving Suggestions

What is a good side dish with salmon?

Well, almost anything to be honest. It really comes down to your likes, seasonal produce and the time you have in total to make the dinner.

Common Readers Questions

How long should you cook salmon in the air fryer?

10 minutes is all you need to cook regular fresh salmon fillets in the air fryer. Cooking for any longer will dry the fish out.

How do I keep salmon from drying in my air fryer?

I’ve used melted butter with seasoning and fresh herbs to flavor the lemon garlic salmon filets, keep them moist, and prevent them from drying out while cooking. Be careful not to cook the salmon filets for longer than 10 minutes, so the meat doesn’t dry out.

Should salmon be defrosted before air frying?

While you can use fresh or frozen salmon for this recipe, I prefer to allow frozen filets to thaw in the refrigerator before adding them to the preheated air fryer.

If you go ahead and cook the filets from frozen, you run the risk of the fish not being cooked through completely. While you could add extra cooking time, you could end up drying out certain parts of the filets while the center remains undercooked.

Do you have to flip salmon in the air fryer?

You don’t need to flip the salmon filets while cooking. I place the filets with the salmon skin side down.

  • Once the air fryer is preheated, transfer the salmon filets into the air fryer basket and cook for 10 minutes. The salmon is ready when it’s easily flaking, and its internal temperature should reach 145 F.
  • Enjoy right away.

Video

Notes

  • Space the salmon filets out in the air fryer basket, so they are not overcrowded.
  • Proper circulation of hot air will ensure an even cook on all sides.

During the fall season, we love to take advantage of fresh pumpkins, a versatile fruit, and make both sweet and savory recipes. From pumpkin chili, pancakes, to spiced pumpkin bread and more.

[feast_advanced_jump_to]

How To Clean Pumpkin Seeds?

To clean and roast pumpkin seeds, start by carving a pumpkin and extracting the seeds. Set aside the remaining pumpkin flesh for other cooking methods like making a puree, for soup, roasted pumpkin salad, baking, or air frying pumpkin slices.

Cleaning pumpkin seeds effectively is crucial for achieving a crispy outcome after cooking. Here are the steps I recommend for thorough cleaning and roasting.

Ingredients

The full recipe and ingredients can be found in the recipe card below this post.

  • Raw Pumpkin Seeds - these are the star ingredient of the recipe. Don't toss those fresh pumpkin seeds! Get a whole pumpkin from the grocery store (opt for a large pumpkin that will have the biggest seeds), carve it, and remove the seeds or for a quick recipe go for already cleaned and dried raw pumpkin seeds from the store.
  • Butter - adds richness and a subtle creamy flavor to the pumpkin seeds when melted and mixed with them before roasting. It helps the seasonings adhere to the seeds and contributes to a deliciously crisp texture. Ghee is another option that will work great here.
  • Whether kosher salt or flaky sea salt will amp up the flavor of these pumpkin seeds.
  • Seasonings - both garlic powder and onion powder bring distinct flavors to the roasted pumpkin seeds. Feel free to add your twist, whether it is ranch seasoning, or your fave seasoning salt, chili powder for some heat, or for sweet flavor try brown sugar or cinnamon sugar. Try our honey roasted seeds in oven.

📋 JULIA'S TIP: Pre-drying the seeds before roasting ensures an even oil coating, guaranteeing perfect toasting.

Instructions

Prep. I prefer using the air fryer recipe for roasting because it's much more practical than using the oven.

Typically, I like to preheat my air-fryer.

Dry the seeds. To begin roasting pumpkin seeds, ensure they're completely dry and the pumpkin pulp removed.

Place the dried seeds into a medium bowl.

Add seasonings. Combine melted butter (or olive oil) with garlic & onion powder, salt, and black pepper, ensuring an even coating over all the seeds.

Spread seasoned pumpkin seeds in a single layer onto the air fryer basket.

pumpkin seeds tossed in onion powder in a bowl.

Air fry. Air fry pumpkin seeds at 350°F for around 15-20 minutes until golden brown, remembering to shake the basket halfway through for uniform roasting.

Afterward, check their crispiness, and if needed, air fry them for an extra 3-5 minutes for the desired texture.

Allow to cool and enjoy. Once done, allow them to cool down.

Adjust the seasoning to your liking and indulge in this delicious snack.

Tips

  • Experiment with the seasoning quantities to match your taste buds; just be cautious with spicy seasonings.
  • When using store-bought pumpkin seeds, ensure they're labeled as 'raw.'
  • Waiting for the seeds to cool before handling them might be tough, but it prevents stickiness. Trust me, these seeds are so addictive; it's best not to leave them out in plain sight on the kitchen table. Store them in the pantry for safekeeping!
  • Pumpkin seeds, also known as pepitas, offer several health benefits and are an easy snack that is both delicious and nutritious.

What Are The Benefits Of Eating Pumpkin Seeds?

Pumpkin seeds are super healthy! They've got antioxidants, and are a great source of magnesium, and zinc. Plus, when you eat the shell too, you get some extra fiber, making them even more nutritious.

golden brown pumpkin seeds in a bowl.

Serving Suggestions

The versatility of pumpkin seeds makes them a great addition to various dishes, adding both taste and nutritional value.

  • Snack: Eat them as a standalone snack, whether roasted, seasoned, or salted, for a crunchy and satisfying munch.
  • Salads: Sprinkle roasted pumpkin seeds atop salads like avo chickpea salad, kale salad, roasted pumpkin salad to add texture, a nutty flavor, and extra nutrition.
  • Trail Mix: Combine crunchy pumpkin seeds with nuts, dried fruits, and maybe even a bit of chocolate for a tasty trail mix.
  • Yogurt or Oatmeal Topping: Sprinkle roasted pumpkin seeds over yogurt or overnight oats to add crunch and a nutty flavor to your breakfast.

Freezing And Storing Instructions

  • To Store. I typically keep them at room temperature for up to a week. For longer freshness, refrigerate the seeds and reheat them in the air fryer or oven until crispy when needed. Allow the seeds to reach room temperature before storing.
  • To Freeze. When freezing, use an airtight bag or container for up to 6 months. Yet, note that the texture might not be as crispy after thawing. If freezing raw seeds without honey coating, it's best to do so before preparation.

Air Fryer Pumpkin Seeds Recipe: Common Questions

Should you eat the pumpkin seed shell?

Yes, it's generally safe to eat the outer shell, but individuals with digestive issues might want to avoid consuming the shells. According to a Healthline article, some people with digestive problems may find the shells difficult to digest, so they might choose to remove them before eating.

  • Flexible and tasty - You can make them as simple as they come or serve with your favorite toppings, like bacon, chili, taco meat.

Check for doneness. You'll know they're ready when a fork easily glides through to the center.

The cooking time will depend on the size of the potato: smaller potatoes will cook faster, while larger ones may require a bit more time.

Tips

  • Make sure your potatoes are similar in size when air frying them together in one batch.
  • Avoid overcrowding the air fryer; if it's smaller, cook fewer at once to prevent touching or overcrowding. Proper air circulation is important.
  • Check for doneness. Verify if your potato is fully cooked by inserting a knife into the center; it should go through easily. If not, continue cooking in the air fryer as needed.
  • Scrub thoroughly. The potato skins are edible and tasty when seasoned. Make sure to clean the potato under running water before cooking.
  • Dry completely. Ensure the potatoes are completely dry after washing, as this helps achieve a crispy skin.

FAQs

How do you know when a Baked Potato is done?

Cook time depends on potato size. To check doneness, insert a fork or knife into the center. If it goes through easily, the potato is ready to enjoy.

Should I peel the potatoes before air frying?

Keep the potato skin on; it's nutritious and crisps up well in the air fryer. Scrub them thoroughly and ensure they're dry before cooking.

Do I need to preheat my air fryer?

You don’t need but I still like to preheat it to 390 F before cooking potatoes.

Do you have to pierce a potato before air frying?

Puncture potatoes before air frying to prevent bursting and allow steam to escape, avoiding a mess.

Should I wrap my potato in foil before air frying?

For a crispier skin, air fry potatoes without foil. Lightly spray with olive oil, sprinkle with salt for a delicious, fiber-packed exterior.

Air Fryer vs Microwave Baked potato

While microwaving is fastest, it tends to soften the skin. Enter the air fryer: 20 minutes, and you get a perfect baked potato with a crispy skin.

ingredients for potato skins.

To make it simple, I like to cook the potatoes in the air fryer. But I'll also mention other methods for you in the next section.

  • Potatoes - For the fluffiest air fryer baked potatoes, opt for Russet (Idaho) potatoes known for their starchiness, or try red or Yukon gold potatoes for a creamier, buttery texture. Ensure your potatoes are of similar sizes and clean off any dirt from their skins. You can even mix Russets with yellow or sweet potatoes of similar size, making them all excellent choices for this dish.
  • Cheese - Feel free to mix up the cheeses, we love melty cheese options such as Cheddar, Monterey Jack, Gouda, and Colby Jack Cheese.
  • Bacon - Cooked and crumbled for serving along with a dollop of sour cream and green onions.
  • Sour cream - Or you can use Greek yogurt.
  • Salt and black pepper to taste.

Instructions

Take the halved cooked potatoes, and gently hollow out a small portion of the potato flesh to create a pocket.

Be careful not to remove too much since we intend to enjoy the potato itself. Repeat this process for all the potatoes.

brushing the insides of the potato skins with olive oil.

Brush the olive oil evenly onto the surface of the potatoes, ensuring they are fully coated.

Sprinkle a bit of salt and black pepper onto the potato skins. If you like, you can also add some extra seasonings here such as ranch dressing seasoning.

Fill the potato skin pockets with shredded cheese and bacon crumbles.

Close the air fryer basket and lower the temperature to 350 degrees.

Add your preferred toppings, like sour cream and green onions, on top of the potato skins. Now, savor and enjoy!

📋 FLAVOR & TEXTURE - These potatoes have crispy skins and soft inside, cheesy and savory.

How To Cook Baked Potatoes

In Air Fryer - use my air fryer baked potato recipe here.

In the Microwave

To prepare potatoes in the microwave, start by piercing the potato with a fork.

Then, put the whole potatoes on a microwave-safe dish and microwave them for 5 minutes.

Flip the potatoes over and continue microwaving for an additional 7-8 minutes or until they are easily pierced with a fork.

Baked Potato In The Oven

For oven-baked potatoes, begin by piercing the potato with a fork.

Then, gently coat the potatoes with olive oil and season them with salt and pepper.

Lay the whole potatoes on a baking sheet.

Bake at 450 degrees Fahrenheit for 45-55 minutes, adjusting the time based on the size of the potato, until they're tender and perfectly cooked.

How to Reheat

Here's how to reheat potato skins:

Place them in the air fryer and cook at 350 degrees for 3-4 minutes. Add your favorite toppings if desired.

Tips

  • If you like more cheese, increase the amount to ½ cups.
  • Potato size. Opt for large potatoes, preferably russets, as they're sturdy and hold up well when baked.
  • Cooling. Allow the potatoes to cool completely before cutting into them to prevent them from falling apart.
  • Cutting technique. Slice lengthwise along the potato skin, then gently scoop out the potato's interior, leaving approximately a ¼-inch layer for stability.
  • Use up the potato insides for mashed potatoes, creamy potato soup or savory pancakes.
  • Make it sweet by using sweet potatoes.

Serving Suggestions

Transforming crispy potato skins into a satisfying meal is effortless with the addition of toppings. We love to serve them for holiday dinners along with green beans and pork.

Here are some great ways to load them up:

Freezing And Storing Instructions

  • To Store. Once cooled, place the leftover potato skins in an airtight container and store them in the fridge; they will stay fresh for up to 4 days. Remember to add sour cream, bacon, and green onions just before serving.
  • To Reheat. To reheat, return the potato skins to the air fryer and cook at 350 degrees for 3-4 minutes. Add your preferred toppings afterward. If your potatoes are larger, you might need to add an extra 1-3 minutes to ensure they are thoroughly heated.

How to Freeze Potato Skins

Follow the potato skin preparation instructions as directed, but refrain from adding sour cream or green onions on top. Let them cool completely.

Next, place the cooled potato skins into a freezer-safe bag or container, ensuring you remove any excess air. Store the potato skins in the freezer, where they will remain fresh for up to 6 months.
