Easy 5-minute refreshing Skinny Watermelon Margarita Recipe for those hot summer evenings! Loaded with fresh watermelon, tequila, orange liquor and plenty of lime may about to become your new best homemade margarita recipe.

When watermelons are in season it is the best time to learn how to make watermelon margarita cocktails!

Make it just for one and keep the leftovers (if you have any!) in a pitcher in the fridge or serve later at dinner.

Best to be consumed right away after it’s made but use your best judgment for storing this homemade margarita!

About Strawberry Margarita

The process of the homemade margarita is easy and relatively straightforward.

Prepare the margarita glasses or regular whisky tumbler/water glasses (for best results use chilled, I place mine in the freezer until they are ice ice cold!), make the salt rim, add ice and pour in the homemade margarita mix!

I also strain the flesh and seeds after blending the drink, but you can take out the seeds before and leave a bit of watermelon flesh inside, up to you!

If you like refreshing beverage recipes such as this watermelon margarita, be sure to check out my other drinks too: Agua Fresca, Strawberry Iced Tea or head over to the drinks category list over here.

Skinny Watermelon Margarita ingredients flat lay shot

Ingredients

  • Tequila - use a good quality brand blanco or golden tequila.
  • Liquor - any type will work such as Triple Sec, Grand Marnier, and of course Cointreau which I use for all my margaritas.
  • Lime - the recipe calls for 2 ½ tablespoons of lime juice but if you love sour drinks a much as I do I’d add at least one more full spoon of juice. However if you’re new to homemade cocktails, start with little, as you can always add extra to taste in the end.
  • Salt - two words: SEA SALT, a game changer! I used Maldon Salt Flakes and crush them myself leaving few bigger flakes in the mix too. Salty crushed flakes combined with chilled watermelon drink is really something! Who would have thought that this weird combo: salt and watermelon can be SO good?
  • Sugar - any sweetener of your choice will do, such as stevia, honey, agave syrup, brown demerara light, or dark sugar. Traditionally Margarita is a sour cocktail, but to balance the flavors some sort of sweetener is a good idea, the amount may vary as well depending on how sweet and ripe the watermelon used.

Why not make it spicy? Add a dash of Jalapeno Simple Syrup directly to the drink before serving.

Why you'll love this

  • Great for beginners - you won’t need any shakers or other special bar equipment! If you have a blender you're good to go!
  • Refreshing – simply magical for those hot summer days when you feeling thirsty!
  • Fun and easy homemade cocktail to serve during Cinco De Mayo!
  • Can be made in advance and in large quantities for a crowd.
  • Can be served as a punch in a bowl or pitcher with ice.
  • Ready in 5-10 minutes at the most!
  • Balanced flavors – perfect amount of sweet and sour flavors.

Instructions

Let's learn how to make watermelon margarita!

Prep. Salt the rim of a whiskey tumbler or margarita glass.

Rub it thoroughly with a lime wedge and dip the top of the glass in a small plate with crushed sea salt flakes.

For best results use chilled glasses!

blend all the watermelon margarita cocktail ingredients in blender until smooth

Blend. Next, add all the ingredients for the cocktail in a blender and process until all is mixed well and there are no chunks of watermelon.

For best results use chilled watermelon.

strain the watermelon seeds and excess flesh in a pitcher

Strain the blended drink into a pitcher or bowl to prevent any seeds and excess watermelon flesh from coming into the drink.

Taste and adjust if need with extra lime juice or sugar.

Prepare the whiskey glass by dipping the top of it in crushed sea salt flakes

Serve on the rocks. Top the prepared glasses with 3-4 large ice cubes in each and carefully divide the margarita cocktail between each glass.

Garnish the margarita with watermelon, lime slice, and enjoy!

Tips

  • Make it a Spritzer – it also tastes incredible when adding soda, sweet tonic or sparkling water to the pitcher or final individual serving glasses.
  • Ice - is optional when blending the mix. But for best results use chilled watermelon chunks, alternatively, add ice (about 3-4 ice cubes) into the blender.
  • Cold spring water - you’ll need a bit of water, it helps to blend all the ingredients, depending on your blender you’ll need to add more/less than mentioned in the recipe.
  • Sugar – any sweetener of your taste will work here, stevia, honey, agave syrup, maple syrup.
  • I like to keep my serving glasses in the freezer and take them out right before serving.
  • If you’re not a big fan on the salty rim (not everyone is!) or not sure if your guests will like this, make the salt rim only on half of the glass. Or add a bit of sugar into the mix (to taste).
  • Salt rim - use sea salt flakes as mentioned, alternatively regular salt, margarita salt is fine too.
  • Make it Spicy - have you tried Tajin yet? Swap salt to tajin spice or simply mix chili powder into sea salt flakes to make a spicy and salty rim. Delicious!

Serving Suggestions

Dalgona Coffee Ingredients

  • Instant coffee - use finely ground instant coffee because it dissolves easily in hot water making it easier to whip it into frothy clouds! Choose a good-quality instant coffee to guarantee a robust coffee foam. The better the quality of the coffee, the richer the taste of your Dalgona Coffee.
  • Sugar - this ensures that the foam does not become overly bitter and also helps in making the foam light and fluffy. You can also use monkfruit sweetener as long as it is granulated.
  • Hot water - it needs to be hot to quickly dissolve the coffee and sugar granules, giving you a smooth and well-mixed base.
  • Milk - you can use full-fat milk or any type of milk like soy milk, vanilla soy milk, almond, or coconut will be great! If you want the coffee to be hot, just warm up the milk in microwave and omit the ice.
  • Ice - you can use regular ice cubes or tubes, or also use frozen milk cubes.

The full recipe and ingredients can be found in the recipe card below this post.

How To Make Dalgona Coffee

Whip the coffee mixture. Place instant coffee, sugar, and hot water into a mixing jar or bowl.

Then, use an electric mixer to make the characteristic coffee foam of this coffee.

Don't have an electrical mixer? Hand whisking takes 8-15 minutes with a zig-zag motion in a bowl for optimal air incorporation. But you'll be tired!

You’ll need 1 to 2 minutes of high sped mixing to achieve the desired consistency.

Assemble. Prepare your Dalgona Coffee by placing a cup of ice in each glass.

Then fill it up to ½ inch from the top with milk, and finally, top each glass with the sweet and soft coffee foam.

Tips

  • This recipe doesn’t work with expresso powder coffee.
  • Make sure that the water is at boiling point so the coffee dissolves properly.
  • You’ll need to stir the coffee in with a spoon so that it is nicely blended with the milk. This is the best way to drink it!
  • If you still find your final result too bitter try adding some sweet coffee syrup (my favorite is chocolate, almond, or Irish coffee syrups).

Whip the coffee mixture until stiff peaks form. This ensures a light and airy texture for the coffee foam. It may take some time, so be patient and continue whipping until the desired consistency is achieved.

whipped instant coffee and milk in a glass mug.

How To Serve Dalgona Coffee

This Korean drink is best enjoyed fresh. The coffee foam may lose its fluffy texture over time, so assemble and consume the drink shortly after preparing it.

  • You can also freeze it in ice cubes to make a coffee ice cream.
  • Use it as a topping for brownies.

Variations

  • Top it up - sprinkle your whipped coffee with cinnamon, cocoa powder, shredded milk or dark chocolate, crushed Oreos … whatever you like, it's your amazing creation!
  • Add different flavors - add syrups like chocolate, almond, hazelnut, and mint to the milk or later when stirring in the coffee and blending with milk. Or you may want to add flavored creamer to your milk just right before you top it up with the whipped coffee.
  • For a softer taste - add a few dashes of vanilla or almond extract when whisking up the instant coffee.

This Jalapeno Simple Syrup is a great addition to your traditional cocktails. Quick and easy to prep and keeps in the fridge for up to a month or more. The simple syrup is also great for enhancing different food recipes like noodles or rice bowls.

Quite a few cocktails call for a simple syrup mix. Why not kick it up with a little chili for a unique cocktail experience.

And don't forget to try this jalapeno syrup with Spicy Watermelon Basil Margarita!

Instructions

In a medium pot, add sugar and water over medium heat. Take it to a boil and stir in the pepper slices.

Simmer on lower heat for 10-15 minutes. (Taste test after about 8 minutes, the total simmering time will depend on how strong syrup you are going for).

Remove from heat and strain the jalapeno peppers out.

Let cool before use. Add into cocktails, smoothies, Asian food recipes.

Makes about 1 or 1 ½ cup of ready-made syrup. Plenty for dozen of drinks!

Tips

  • Spicy peppers - the most common version is jalapeno simple syrup. But any other similar hot peppers will work such as habanero (extra spicy), serrano, or green/red/yellow chili peppers. Seeded or with seeds? This will depend on how spicy syrup you want to achieve. I would start without seeds if it is your first time.
  • Simmering time: You can simmer for shorter or longer amounts of time for your desired spice/heat level. If not sure, simply follow this recipe instructions to get properly balanced sweet and spicy flavored simple syrup.
  • Peppers - If you want your syrup extra hot, don’t remove the seeds from peppers before cooking. However you’ll need to strain the peppers out before serving.
  • Sugar - for a classical ‘’gomme’’ syrup use granulated white sugar but if you want more in-depth flavor try light or brown muscovado sugar instead. It will also add a little darker hue to your drinks. You gonna love this!
  • Cutting the peppers - Don't make my mistakes and always use gloves when handling the peppers, and wash your hands after use.
  • When making drinks with hot peppers, it's important to remember that less is more. You don't want your drink to be too spicy to enjoy. You can always add extra fresh spicy pepper or chili flakes directly to the drink if needed.  Another thing to mention is that every syrup you make will vary depending on the peppers used. Some are spicier, riper and etc.
  • Don’t throw away the peppers -  Make delicious pancakes or cornbread with folded jalapenos or peppers! Too extreme? Flavorful dishes such as Noodles, Curries, Stews and many Indian and Asian dishes.
  • The thickness of the syrup - simple syrup ratio is usually 1:1 but for a thicker version make it 2:1 by doubling up the sugar. You'll need to taste test the cocktail as you go. I don’t recommend this option as I believe the 1:1 is a perfect ratio for cocktails + as the syrup will be not very ‘’pourable’’ and too thick for mixing in drinks.

Storing instructions

Place the cooled spicy simple syrup in a sealed glass bottle, mason jar, or airtight container and keep it in the fridge for up to a month. I haven’t frozen the syrup yet, so If you do try this method, please let me know how it went.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar or brown sugar muscovado
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 green chili pepper or larger green jalapeno sliced, seeds extracted or left in

Instructions

  • In a medium pot, add sugar and water over medium heat. Take it to a boil and stir in the pepper slices. Simmer on lower heat for 10-15 minutes. (Taste test after about 8 minutes, the total simmering time will depend on how strong syrup you are going for).
  • Remove from heat and strain the peppers out.
  • Let cool before use. Add into cocktails, smoothies, Asian recipes.

Notes

Can you buy simple syrup? Sure you can. It is available in the alcoholic beverage aisles, baking aisle/sections, online stores. But of course, as I always like to point out, homemade is better and healthier without any additives and extras. You can control the sweetness amount and add extra ingredients like peppers, herbs, and others.
Do you refrigerate simple syrup? You should refrigerate it and if made properly (ratio, cooled before refrigerating, and stored in an airtight container, preferably glass) will keep fresh for up to a month.

This healthy green juice recipe is made with leafy greens, green apples, English cucumbers, lemons, and celery. Making your own fresh juice with anti-inflammatory ingredients is great way to consume those green veggies that you'd normally forget to add to your menu.

Add fresh herbs such as fresh mint, fresh ginger, coconut water, other fresh fruit for natural sweetness, or chia seeds to easily adapt this tasty green juice.

Ingredients

My few comments on the ingredients + don't forget to read the Tips section!

The full recipe and ingredients can be found in the recipe card below this post.

ingredients for green juice

There’s no ‘’right’’ way to make green juice. Everyone has their own recipe and veggies they like. And for me, the more the merrier.

Today I’m sharing a super simple, 5 ingredient green juice recipe. Here's what goes in it:

  • Kale - Dinosaur, curly, or baby kale - any variety of kale will work. This leafy green is known for its super nutrition but Fresh spinach will work here too.
  • Apples - I prefer Granny Smith apples for their tartness. They are less sweet than all the apple options but still have the right amount of sweetness in them. You don’t need to peel the apples as the skin provides extra dietary fiber. If unpeeled, I do recommend removing the wax first. For sweeter apples, you can try Honey Crisp apples.
  • Celery - Fresh stalks.
  • English cucumber - The skin is soft enough to leave on, but you can peel these cucumbers if you like.
  • Lemon - A smaller lemon or you can also use lime instead.
  • Optional add ons - To add a little more zing to your drink mix in some grated ginger (about 1 inch) or ground ginger, turmeric, or cinnamon. If you feel the flavor is too much for you, you can add a drizzle of good quality raw honey.

Blender vs Juicer

In the past, I’ve used both blender and a juicer for this green juice. They both work and both have pros and cons:

Blender

  • Pros - The biggest advantage of using a powerful blender when making green juice is that the fiber from the blended ingredients is not lost through the process. This also means a better concentration of nutrients. Blender can also be used for various recipes and is easy to clean.
  • Cons - Some people don’t like the thicker texture of blender juice made in a high-speed blender. The liquid and the juice pulp also separate over time, requiring stirring.

Juicer

  • Pros - A juicer produces a smoother texture for the green juice by discarding the pulp and fiber. Eliminating fiber also means faster nutrient absorption by the body. A juicer will also yield a higher quantity of juice compared to a blender.
  • Cons - The loss of fiber is not always a good thing, especially when considering how fiber aids digestion. The juicing process is also known for introducing oxygen into the juice which can result in oxidation and nutrient degradation. Apart from this, a juicer is a lot more tricky and time-consuming to clean.

Instructions

Wash all your ingredients very thoroughly.

Cut the apple in fours and remove the core.

Peel the lemon and discard the peel.

best green juice

Process the washed and prepared ingredients through your juicer or use a blender.

Enjoy right away!

What to do with leftover pulp?

There are tons of creative ways to use leftover pulp, so nothing goes to waste! Personally, I think the best way is to use it as a compost.

Fresh homemade juice vs storebought

Making your juice or smoothie at home is still better as you’d consume it right away with the most nutrients included. Buy organic veg and fruit whenever possible.

Stay away from the store-bought freshly squeezed juices. These may often include ‘’added’’ sugar which is different from ''total sugar'' which comes from fruits.

Serving Suggestions

I recommend drinking it as it is and not chilling the juice. If you are drinking green juice for health reasons, I recommend enjoying it at room temperature. Cold drinks are not the most helpful for our digestion.

If you don’t like the flavor, you can try adding a small ice cube or chilling the ingredients first in the fridge.

pure green juice with kale, celery, apples, lemon

Tips

  • If you don't like the pulp from this easy green juice recipe, strain it through a fine-mesh sieve.
  • You can adjust the consistency of a smoothie by adding coconut water to the mixture.
  • Make sure to wash raw vegetables and fruit before blending.
  • The juice is best to be enjoyed right away to prevent loss of nutrients. You can still save it for later by refrigerating it for 12 hours or so.
  • As the juice sits, it will start to separate and it may turn brownish color. It is normal as the apples start to oxidize, but the juice is still drinkable.

Storing

How long are juiced vegetables good for?

I recommend drinking it right away. The longer it sits the fewer nutrients it will have.

The Benefits of Green Juice

Why choose to consume vegetables in juice form? Well, let's set the record straight. The exaggerated claims surrounding the supposed benefits of green juice are just that – exaggerated.

I hate to break it to you but don't expect be shedding pounds or curing diseases by guzzling down a glass of green juice.

In fact, much like the hype around celery juice, the health claims associated with green juices are blown out of proportion. Here's what I’ve researched:

  • When you drink green juice, you miss out on the fiber that whole vegetables provide. It's actually more beneficial to consume the entire vegetable itself. How about making a healthy snack with veggie sticks and spinach dip or a fresh kale salad with delicious tahini dressing and lots of protein?
  • Or make a vegetable or fruit smoothie instead.
  • When compared to soda and other sugary beverages, green juice emerges as a superior alternative. Instead of consuming empty calories and loads of sugar, reaching for a glass of green juice is undoubtedly a better choice!
  • Juice cleanses. Research suggests that juice cleanses can lead to disordered eating patterns, mental well-being, and an unhealthy relationship with food.
  • Sure, kale, celery, and cucumbers are low in calories but rich in nutrients. By drinking their juice, you do get a good dose of vitamins found in these veggies.

All this being said I still love drinking homemade green juice for a couple of good reasons And it is from my own personal experience:

  • I don’t always have the time nor I don’t want to eat lots of the same vegetables every day. Making a smoothie or juice with these ingredients fixes the issue and still nourishes my body with essential vitamins like Vitamin K and Vitamin C, fiber, minerals, and iron.
  • It keeps me full for longer, energy levels are high and it is always a better choice than caffeinated drinks.
  • Cravings - it helps me to control my craving for unhealthy snacks, especially sweets and I always try to add some extra fiber intake sometime before drinking the juice, such as healthy nuts or crackers.

With all this being said, and given that green juice doesn’t contain much fiber, it shouldn’t be used to substitute your veggie or fruit intake.

Variations

This is a basic green drink recipe, so feel free to customize it to suit your taste preferences. Here are a couple of my favorites:

  • Fresh vibrant greens - Choose firm, colorful leaves, avoiding wilted ones. Dino kale works well, but feel free to try other varieties like kale or chard. Experiment with romaine lettuce or collards too for added flavor complexity.
  • Spices and healthy add ons - Consider adding ground turmeric, cinnamon, matcha powder, protein powder or bee pollen for added nutrition.
  • A healthy liquid base - Use celery, cucumber, or coconut water for moisture, minimizing fruit and fruit juice to keep sugar content low.
  • Add herbal accents - Enhance your green juice with parsley and cilantro. Flat-leaf parsley offers a stronger flavor, while curly parsley is milder.

How To Add Protein To This Drink As A Post-Workout Drink

The easiest way to add a boost of protein to your daily green juice is by adding a scoop or two of your favorite protein powder. And there are a few GF options available too!

Other ingredients that can be added to this green juice as a source of protein include Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, nut butter, or silken tofu. Most of these ingredients will add a creamy texture to the green juice, which will make this juice similar to green smoothies.

Is Green Juice A Healthy Choice?

Homemade green juice is loaded with valuable nutrients that improve overall health and can also allow the intake of certain foods that we wouldn’t get around to eating on a daily basis.

Enjoying fresh produce in liquid form is easy for digestion, easy to make, and can be adapted to suit taste preferences. However, If you can it is better to use a blender and or leave a little bit of pulp in your juice for that fiber.
And I fact, eating whole vegetables and fruit is healthier than in their juice form as the nutrition profile is lower when in juice form.

This may be the best use for watermelon yet! These Spicy Watermelon Basil Margaritas are sweet, refreshing with a little kick of spicy flavor that comes from homemade chili sweet syrup and the delicious salted chili rim.

Guys, this is a real crowd-pleaser. Especially ladies will appreciate! Is watermelon in season where you are now? Be sure to make these delicious summery refreshing spicy watermelon basil margaritas!

Watermelon is great and naturally sweet when in season, it also blends wonderfully with all types of alcohol - in this case with Tequila and orange liquor.

The process is very simple, but we’ll need a bit of prep on your side. First, cut the watermelon into medium chunks, remove the seeds, place it into a sealed container and freeze overnight (or at least 4 hours until watermelon becomes solid or at least halfway frozen.

When ready place the watermelon into a blender along with other watermelon margarita ingredients and blend until perfectly smooth and frozen. Rub each top of the frozen or regular margarita glass (this is what I used) thoroughly with a lime wedge and dip in a small plate with margarita salt, regular salt or crushed sea salt flakes, and tajin (or chili powder). Garnish with beautiful watermelon/lime slices, basil and serve immediately! Simple isn’t it!?

For more in depth step-by-step process of making spicy watermelon basil margaritas read below in the Instructions section.

If you like cocktails much as I do be sure to give some love to these refreshing summer drinks recipes: Strawberry Iced Tea With Mint, Skinny Watermelon Margarita, Strawberry Agua Fresca With Chili.

Why you'll love this

  • Watermelon is naturally sweetened and you only need a little bit of homemade jalapeno simple syrup to enhance the flavors even more and get that spicy accent to the margarita. Alternatively leave the syrup out, sweeten only with honey or stevia and serve with salted spicy rim.
  • Made with fresh fruit and herbs!
  • Vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, plant-based.
  • Balanced flavors – perfect amount of sweet, spicy and sour flavors.
  • Lightly sweetened.
  • Refreshing summer party drink!
  • Easy to make without any special bar equipment! If you have a blender, you’re good to go!

Ingredients

  • Watermelon. This spicy watermelon basil margarita will have the best flavor if made with watermelon’s that are in season.
  • Freshly squeezed lime juice. Fresh is always best, natural and full of flavor.
  • Garnishes. Fresh basil and fresh watermelon. Optional but makes a beautiful presentation. Make the margarita garnishes ahead of the time and keep in an airtight container covered with a damp paper towel and make sure they are ready before you start making the drinks.
  • The liquor matters. For absolute best flavor, use high quality spirits.

Instructions

Prep the glasses. Salt the rim of a margarita glass. Rub it thoroughly with a lime wedge and dip the top of the glass in a small plate with salt and chili powder (or tajin) mix.

For best results use chilled glasses!

Blend. Add all the ingredients for the margarita cocktail in a blender and process until all mixed well and there are no chunks of watermelon.

Depending on your blender you’ll need to add x amount of cold water to make the blending process smooth. Also for the ice, if high power blender then, you can use ice cubes, alternatively crushed ice will blend easier.

Serve. Using a spoon divide the drink between the prepared glasses, don’t create a very high ‘’tower’’ on top as you won’t be able to transport the glasses to the table.

Also, frozen margaritas melt quickly, especially if outside in warm weather, so use your best judgment on how much you pour into the glass!

Garnish with basil leaves, watermelon slice, lime and serve immediately. Enjoy!

Tips and variations

  • I recommend cutting the watermelon into medium chunks (one or two inches in size) before freezing. Watermelon should freeze solid within 4-6 hours, depending on the temperature of your freezer. For best results, freeze overnight.
  • Always add the liquid ingredients to the bottom of the blender first and then follow with fruit, otherwise in some cases, it will be difficult for the blender to work.
  • If you’re not a big fan of the spicy salty rim (not everyone is!) or not sure if your guests will like this, make the salt rim only on half of the glass. Or add a bit of sugar into the mix (to taste).
  • For the spicy – have you tried Tajin yet? Instead of chili powder use tajin spice and mix it into the salt before dipping the top of the glasses in it.
  • Alcohol amount - you can always add more/less liquor as you need. Small differences will not change the texture or flavor of the drink.
  • Just in case you don't like tequila flavor, another great option is to use vodka or gin, or even watermelon flavored spirits.
  • Fruit variations - Watermelon goes well with most tropical fruits such as mango, pineapple, papaya, passion fruit, banana. Mix things up by adding these, also preferably frozen, or add berries that are great for this margarita such as strawberries, and raspberries.

FAQs

Are frozen margaritas stronger than on the rocks?

I'd say definitely not, because the average drinking time of frozen margaritas is usually longer, about 20 minutes compared to classical margaritas that are about 10-12 minutes. This way your drink gets diluted with ice and frozen fruit that results in a less strong drink. Compare this to Skinny Watermelon Margarita and you'll know the difference!

Why are my frozen margaritas watery?

It may depend on few different factors. If you add more liquid to the frozen watermelon margarita such as more alcohol, ice, and water it may end up watery. Also, be sure to use enough frozen watermelon per drink, I wouldn't recommend using fresh fruit for this as it won't be frozen enough or you'll need to add lots of ice to achieve the texture which will result in a very flat taste and will be watery.

  • No caffeine! - peppermint tea bags are usually without caffeine so it is healthy and perfect to enjoy on late-night evenings too.
  • Refreshing - simply magical for those hot summer days when you feeling so thirsty!
  • Can be served as a cocktail/punch - add about 16 oz of preferably dark rum (white is fine too) and you have a delicious summer cocktail-ready that tastes similar to a mojito.
  • Better than the store-bought iced tea - homemade is always better, healthier and you control the sugar and other ingredients in your drinks.

  • Easy and quick summer beverage recipe that ANYONE can make.
  • Balanced flavors - perfect amount of sweet and sour flavors

How to make Strawberry Iced Tea

Strawberry Mint Iced Tea

Prepare about 4 cups of peppermint tea and add muscovado sugar and lime juice. Set aside to cool.

Strawberry Mint Iced Tea

Meanwhile, in a food processor or using an immersion blender, process 4 cups of the strawberries with on-and-off motions until smooth.

Strawberry Mint Iced Tea

Add the puree to cooled or chilled peppermint tea, fill the jug with ice and serve with fresh strawberries, lime wedges, and mint leaves.

Strawberry Mint Iced Tea

Tips and variations

  • If you prefer, you can also strain the strawberry puree when adding to the tea, but I like when there are fresh strawberry seeds in the mix too.
  • Add alcohol - add white or dark rum and make a cocktail out of this iced tea.
  • Spritzer - it also tastes incredible when adding soda or sparkling water to the finished drink or individual serving glasses.
  • This iced tea recipe can be made with other berries like raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, or berry mix too. Simply adjust to your liking and keep the same ingredient quantities.
  • Sugar - for best results add the sugar while the peppermint tea is hot, but if using muscovado sugar it should dissolve in lukewarm water too.

DIFFERENT WAYS TO USE STRAWBERRY TOPS

Always save strawberry tops - don’t throw them away! Here's what you can make with them:

  • Make strawberry-infused water.
  • Don’t have a plan to use those tops right now? Place them in an airtight container and keep them in the fridge for up to a few days, or in the freezer for a few months, then pull them out when you’re ready to use them.
  • Another great way to use them is to infuse your favorite spirit with them (i usually keep them in my rum for few days).
  • Add the tops to your favorite smoothies to get a little pink hue and hint of strawberries.

Ingredients For Mango Smoothie

  • Coconut milk (Regular or light coconut milk) - You could also use coconut water, almond milk (sweetened or unsweetened almond milk), oat milk, or soy milk.
  • Frozen pineapple chunks - Fresh pineapple can be used instead or canned pineapple.
  • Frozen mango chunks - Fresh mango can be used instead.
  • Banana - This thickens the smoothie and adds natural sweetness. Frozen bananas can be used.
  • Lime - For freshly squeezed juice and one lime for optional. You could use bottled lime juice if in a pinch. Pineapple juice, lemon juice or orange juice are great alternatives.
  • Garnish - Mint leaves and lime as an optional garnish.

The full recipe and ingredients can be found in the recipe card below this post.

How To Make Tropical Smoothie

STEP 1: Add banana, mango, and pineapple into a high-speed blender.

banana in blender

Drizzle with a squeeze of fresh lime juice.

STEP 2: Then pour in coconut milk and blend until smooth.

Garnish with lime wedges and mint.

STEP 3: Serve this tropical mango smoothie right away. Enjoy!

Tips

  • I’ve used frozen mango and pineapple, but you could also use fresh fruit. The frozen fruit makes the smoothie thicker and creamier. The frozen fruit also keeps the smoothie chilled without having to add ice.
  • If you’re using fresh fruit, consider adding crushed ice or smaller ice cubes to the blender as a way to create a thicker chilled smoothie.
  • Healthy frozen treat - you can alternatively fill popsicle molds with the smoothie mixture. Sweeten with honey or sugar as frozen treats tend to taste less sweet.
  • Add greens such as spinach or kale for a green smoothie with an extra boost of nutrients.
  • Coconut milk substitute - you could also use coconut water or almond milk, however, the smoothie will not be as thick.
  • Add natural sweetener - such as honey or pure maple syrup to taste.
  • Add nutrition boost - other healthy add-ins could include protein powder, ginger, and turmeric.
  • For a thicker smoothie, add a dollop of yogurt (either vegan yogurt like coconut yogurt or Greek yogurt).
  • Related: Strawberry Overnight Oats, Cranberry Overnight Oats.

Freezing And Storing Instructions

This mango smoothie is best enjoyed right away. However, you could store it in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Or freeze for longer but it will be difficult to thaw it later.

5 ingredients + water and 5 minutes is all you need to make this cold, thirst-quenching summer beverage. Strawberry-flavored ice water with lime and hint of fresh chili is definitely the world's easiest drink to make during hot summer days.

Strawberry Agua Fresca with Chili

A perfect way to use up bulk or ripe strawberries - make strawberry agua frescas! The strawberry season is officially here and during my favorite time of the year, we eat a lot of strawberries and try to make as much as possible delicious recipes with them.

This aqua fresca is a wonderful and refreshing drink to have on hand. If you have a blender or an immersion blender this drink will be done in seconds!

What is agua fresca?

It may sound like an exotic cocktail but it is actually a non-alcoholic cold beverage mostly popular in Mexico and Central America.

It can be made not only with strawberries but with all sorts of fruits and berries. Make it even more special by adding few spices or fresh chili which will elevate the flavors even more.

Strawberry Mint Iced Tea

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cup + for garnish fresh strawberries, hulled and halved or quartered
  • 1 ½ cup ice cold water
  • ½ of whole red chili pepper with seeds, sliced in circles (if not sure, leave the peppers out!)
  • 2-3 tablespoon of granulated sugar or muscovado sugar
  • 2 ½ tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • Pinch of Himalayan (pink salt) salt flakes

How long is strawberry agua fresca good for?

For better results, when making an agua fresca recipe, it should be consumed on the day when it is made. The flavor will change a lot and not be so refreshing on the second day, unfortunately.

Tips and Variations

There are tons of variations for this agua fresca recipe, you can add your favorite combinations and play with the flavors. These are a few of my favorite suggestions for you.

Strawberry Agua Fresca with Chili
  • Watermelon, strawberry, and lime Agua Fresca - add few cups of chopped watermelon and reduce the water quantity to taste.
  • Simple Watermelon Agua Fresca Recipe - swap strawberries to watermelon only
  • Cucumber Agua Fresca - for extra fresh flavor add long thin slices of cucumber to your iced water. Add a little chili and sugar too 🙂 OR make a Cucumber Mint Agua Fresca
  • Add mint - add handful of fresh mint leaves and process in blender with the rest of the ingredients.
  • Spritzer - add some bubbles to the drink by topping with soda, sparkling water, ginger ale or sprite.
  • Make it an adult’s drink! - add some booze like Cointreau, Vodka, Tequila, Rum to this water + a dash of soda, sparkling water, or lemonade like 7up or sprite.
  • If you don't want to mess with hot peppers, simply add a dash or two of my Jalapeno Simple Syrup into blender (instead of sugar and hot peppers).
